Bookmark design revision (Charlene, from last meeting); discussion

c. Battlefield Advisory Board meeting on Jan. 5: new grant application summary, new list of historical references from Joe Graveline, Northfield. Walking tour is scheduling recordings.

Advisory board members are working with FirstLight on expanding cultural resources. (Kit)

d. ZBA grants permit for Swampbass Inc., 48 French King Highway (Kit)

The special permit granted to Louis Aldrich allows a propane filling station, sales of used autos, conducting automobile repair and detailing, and having an office for C.A.B. transportation, which subcontracts to provide clients with rides to medical, social and day services (see special ZBA permit forwarded to GHC on Jan. 27).

e. Update: Erving-Gill Route 2 Resurfacing (using federal funds) (Kit, Pam)

Email sent to MassDOT (cc to Ray): message from GHC on Feb. 4:

“The Gill Historical Commission has reviewed the proposed repaving project for Route 2/French King Highway in Gill. The road goes through a documented archaeological and historical area. However, the GHC has no objections to the proposed repaving as long as it does not involve work outside of the current walkway.” (drafted in the meeting on Jan. 25)

4. Old and continuing business:

a. Followup: declaring armored mudballs as MA’s state stone: (Terri, Kit)

b. Updates on French King Bridge film: Jonathan Buschen’s progress (Pam)

c. Collection room, collection and exhibit updates: windows and lighting, uses of west wall space (Pam, Kit, discussion, carried over from last meeting); acquisitions/deacquisitions

d. Planning Country Prints/Wert displays and activities for the coming year (Kit, discussion)
