There will be a Special Town Meeting on Tuesday, August 6th at 6:00 PM at the Town Hall. There is only one article on the warrant - to see if voters will authorize the Selectboard to seek special legislation which will allow the current Fire Chief, Gene Beaubien, to remain on the Fire Department (as Chief and/or as a Firefighter) after he turns 65 in January. Massachusetts pension laws require firefighters and police officers to retire at age 65 unless special legislation is enacted for the individual.
