The Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) is excited to announce it will begin piloting a new WEEKEND SERVICE project!!! Beginning Sunday, February 14th FRTA will be expanding its current Access program to provide service on the weekends from 9:30am to 5:30pm. This program is open to the general public and allows anyone to schedule their own curb-to-curb transportation using a free smart phone app available on both the Apple Store and Google Play. Operating in four “zones” people can travel in and around Deerfield, Erving, Gill, Greenfield, Leyden, Montague, New Salem, Orange, Warwick, Wendell, and Whately as well as Downtown Shelburne Falls (Arms Library), Charlemont Park & Ride, Athol Hospital, Athol YMCA,and Athol Market Basket. Fares are $3 within zones and $4 between zones. No smart phone; no problem. Just reach out to the FRTA to learn more about setting up an account through the new online web portal.
