Preparing Your Home for a Smoke and CO Alarm Inspection: Emergency Order on Sale and Transfer Inspections
Under an Executive Order that is part of the Governor's declared State of Emergency, smoke and CO alarm inspections for the sale and transfer of residential properties may be deferred until 90 days after the State of Emergency is lifted if certain legal conditions are met. The buyer must agree to immediately equip the home with smoke and CO alarms that meet the code requirements AND submit the signed agreement to the fire department within 72 hours.
The Department of Fire Services has worked closely with the Fire Prevention Association of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Realtors Association to develop a documentation process and approved language that can be found in a form on the Mass. Realtor’s Association webpage. The signed form should be emailed to the Gill Fire Department at email@example.com.

Burning season runs each year from January 15 - May 1. Burning brush requires a permit and can only be done during burning season. If a Gill resident would like to burn brush on a given day, please go to Franklin County Burn Permits and complete the online permit.
Burn permits are only available through the online permit link above. Do not call Shelburne Control as they will no longer issue burn permits over the phone.
