Housing Rehab Loan Program

For income-qualified homeowners, this program offers loans that are 0% interest, deferred payment (there are no monthly payments), and forgivable over a 15-year period. The program can provide an affordable means for homeowners to weatherize their homes, perform needed repairs, and bring their homes into compliance with building codes or health/safety concerns.

There are four areas of eligibility for the housing rehabilitation program:

• The household must be income qualified (annual gross income equal to or less than 80% of the area median income). For multi-family properties, at least 51% (or one household in a two-unit property) of the units must be occupied by households whose income falls at or below the income guidelines. See income eligibility chart below.
• In addition to homeowner requests, projects will also address health and safety concerns and building code violations.
• The homeowner should be up to date on all municipal payments.
• The property must be the homeowner’s primary residence and be located in one of the towns with a Housing Rehabilitation Program administered by HRA. See list of towns below.

Our Town of Gill is accepting PRE-APPLICATIONS for housing rehabilitation program funds administered by HRA. Please submit a pre-application if you are interested in the program. If funds are available, you will be contacted to complete the full program application. If no immediate funds are available, HRA will hold pre-applications for a period of 12 months; homeowners will be required to confirm their continued interest in funding after that period.
